The preeminent Air Force demo team, the Thunderbirds, are returning to the Offutt AFB Open House and Air Show after a 5 year absence. Serving as the ‘Ambassadors in Blue’, the Thunderbirds put on a 75 minute performance that includes both ground and air demonstrations. The pilots perform approximately 40 maneuvers throughout the air demonstration and includes both solo and formation routines.
Since 1983, the Thunderbird team has taken advantage of the power and agility of the F-16 Fighting Falcon in order to showcase the F-16’s ability to function as a highly-maneuverable multi-role fighter. The F-16 has proven itself to be one of the world’s best precision tactical bombers and air-to-air combat aircraft.
Combining the abilities of the F-16 and the skills of the Thunderbird pilots, the team has participated in over 3500 aerial demonstrations and been witnessed by nearly 300 million spectators around the world. By doing so, the team fulfills its’ objective to support Air Force recruiting and retention programs, reinforce public confidence in the Air Force, strengthen morale and esprit de corps and support Air Force community relations.
Join us between 0900 – 1700 on July 30th and 31st and witness the awe inspiring performance of the Air Force Thunderbirds.
